My Story
Hello, I'm Anna (not Penny, despite what the name suggests 😀 ) I’m a foodie, footy lover (Go Pies), have a massive sweet tooth and I’m the one behind all the yummy treats at Penicook, whipped up right here in my home kitchen.
Penicook gets its name from my dad’s hometown in Scotland, Penicuik.
I launched my business back in 2020, after having my son, spending most of my maternity leave testing recipes and eating a lot of cake and slices 😋
My first baking memories are from way back as a kid sitting up on the bench at home ‘helping’ Mum cook cakes, usually a sponge! And choosing all the hospitality and food tech classes at school that I could possibly do. I’m also that person that goes straight to the dessert menu when out for tea!
While I’m a born and bred Warrnambool girl, I spent six years living in England managing cafes and even had the chance to cater for Members at Lords during the Ashes (the Aussies lost so I dimmed my accent 😆).
My travels have taken me around the world, picking up baking inspiration wherever I go. In 2024 my family and I spent 11 months travelling Australia and I most likely drove my husband nuts with my never-ending hunt for the best cafes around the country!
When I’m not baking, my two little ones keep me on my toes. Along with my husband, I’ve always got very honest taste testers on hand!
I’m passionate about making your special occasions unforgettable with homemade baked goods. From large cakes and mixed slices to sandwich boxes and catering options, I am conscious to have something for everyone, including gluten-free and healthier options.
